All three main US Virgin Islands are great Caribbean destination that totally worth visiting at least once. With white sand beaches, friendly local and interesting colonial history the islands have it all for a great relaxing vacation.  After Irma and Maria hurricanes in 2017 followed by hurricane Harvey in 2019, Virgin Island’s infrastructure and coral reef suffered some serious damages. While tourism is critical for US Virgin Islands economy, tourists also cause significant damage to coral reef and ocean life. What Not to do on US Virgin Islands

Do not step on the corals

When snorkeling or diving make sure to be extra careful and do not step of the coral. Coral are very vulnerable, and stop growing parts that were touched or, even worth, broken.

Do not feed the fish.

Both aquarium fish food and bread crumbs  equally harmful for natural reef fish. Also, feeding fish develops a habit of associating people with food, which is not good for both, fish and humans , snorkeling or diving the reefs.

Do not rush the service.

The service in the restaurants and bars and everything else on the island is SLOW. Expect to wait 30-40 minutes for food. Just get another drink, relax  and switch to “Island time”. You are on vacation after all.

Do not feed wild animals.

This  mainly include chickens. Caribbean chicken have an interesting history as they have been living on the islands for quit a long time. The chickens are everywhere and its very tempting to feed them especially near cafes and restaurants. Do not do it, as chickens develop habits very easy and once they learn about the “food places”, they will come back to the same place again with “friends” to share the food. This is one of the most important things of what not to do in US Virgin islands.
