How to get to Arches National Park
The most common way to get to Arches National Park is by car. The park is located 5 miles north of Moab, Utah, on US 191. It is about a 4.5-hour drive from Salt Lake City, Utah, and a 6-hour drive from Denver, Colorado. There are several bus companies that offer transportation to Moab, Utah, which is the nearest town to Arches National Park. From Moab, visitors can take a shuttle or taxi to the park.
Best hikes in Arches National park
Park Avenue
This hike takes you through a narrow canyon that resembles a city skyline, with towering rock formations on either side. The trail is about 2.3 miles round trip and is rated as moderate.
Devils Garden
This is a longer hike, but it takes you to some of the park’s most stunning arches, including Landscape Arch, the longest natural arch in the world. The trail is 7.2 miles round trip and is rated as difficult.
Fiery Furnace
This is a unique and challenging hike that goes through a maze of narrow canyons and rock formations. The hike is only allowed with a permit, and visitors are required to attend a ranger-led orientation before entering the area.
Double Arch
This hike takes visitors to two stunning arches that are connected at the base. The trail is short and easy, only 0.5 miles round trip, and is suitable for all skill levels.
Broken Arch
This hike takes you to a stunning arch that has a large crack in the middle, giving it a unique appearance. The trail is 2 miles round trip and is rated as moderate.
Delicate Arch
This is the most famous and iconic arch in the park, and the hike to see it up close is a must-do. The trail is 3 miles round trip and is rated as moderate to difficult. Best time to see Delicate arch is sunrise or sunset, this is also the time majority of other hikes go there. The parking space is limited, so you will need to allow some extra time for parking. During our visit to the park late November we arrived to the parking lot around 3.30 pm. The entire parking lot was packed, there were also a lot of cars parked along the road which is not allowed. After driving around the parking lot for almost 30 minutes, we were lucky enough to find a parking spot. So, make sure to allow extra time for parking.
