Our Experience in Lund
We visited Lund as a day trip from Copenhagen, spending half the day in Lund and the other half in Malmö. We took the 7:30 am train from Copenhagen and arrived in Lund by 8:30. The train station is about a 15-minute walk from the city center.
Breakfast was at Mormors Bakery, a nice small bakery and the only place open for breakfast on Saturday. If you’re traveling on the weekend, keep in mind that most places open at 10-11 am. After breakfast, we went to see the Lund Cathedral. The astronomical clock there is amazing. Since I first saw an astronomical clock in Prague, I’ve always been fascinated by them.
Time in the cathedral was spent watching the clock. Then, we headed to the Lund University. We stopped by the Historical Museum building, but it was closed. Walking around the university, we enjoyed the cherry and apple blossoms. The entire campus looked pink, and we took a lot of pictures.
Next, we visited the University Library. The building is beautiful, but if you want to see it covered in green vines, plan a summer visit. In April, there were no leaves on the vines. We walked around the library and then headed to the University Botanical Garden. We spent about an hour there. It was so beautiful with tulips blooming everywhere.
After that, we visited the All Saints Church. We went inside and then walked back to the train station to take the train to Malmö. On the way to the train station, we stopped by the university’s main building on University Square. The time in Lund was great, but I wish we had a bit more time there. I suggest spending the entire day in Lund.
Best time to visit Lund, Sweden
Lund is beautiful all year round. However, the best time to visit is from May to September. During these months, the weather is warm, and the gardens are in full bloom.
The town is vibrant, and outdoor activities are more enjoyable. Spring and summer bring long daylight hours, allowing you to explore more. In autumn, the town is quieter, and the changing leaves add to the charm. Winter can be cold and dark, but the festive season brings cozy markets and decorations.
How to Get to Lund from Copenhagen
Traveling from Copenhagen to Lund is easy and convenient. Take a direct train from Copenhagen Central Station. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Trains run frequently, so you can plan your trip flexibly. Tickets can be purchased at the station or online in advance. The trains are comfortable and offer a scenic ride across the Øresund Bridge, which connects Denmark and Sweden. Once you arrive at Lund Central Station, you are just a short walk from the town center and major attractions.
