Ingredients:

  • 2 cups boiled potatoes, finely chopped or shredded
  • 1 cup boiled carrots, finely chopped or shredded
  • 1 cup beets, finely chopped or shredded
  • 1/2 cup fresh white onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cup herring, chopped
  • Mayo, to taste( about 1 cup)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare each ingredient by boiling or cooking until tender. You can roast carrots and beets for more flavor. Allow them to cool before assembling the salad.
  2. Shred of finely cut carrots, beets, potatoes, onions and herring.
  3. Start by placing a layer of cut herring. Spread the chopped herring evenly across the plate.
  4. Add layer of shredded potatoes , generously cover with layer of mayo, spread it over potatoes.
  5. Follow with a layer of finely chopped or shredded boiled carrots, creating a colorful and textured foundation.
  6. Add a layer of finely chopped or shredded beets, spread layer of mayo over the beets
  7. Repeat the layering process until you’ve used all the ingredients, finishing with a mayo-topped layer.
  8. Refrigerate the salad for a few hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld and intensify.
