While San Diego offers sunshine year-round, it’s easy to crave the seasonal magic of fall. Luckily, fall colors near San Diego are just a short drive away! Here’s a detailed guide to the best spots where you can experience autumn’s beauty within two hours (or a little more).

Where to see Fall Colors Near San Diego

Julian

Julian is a small mountain town about an hour and a half from San Diego, known for its beautiful autumn leaves and cozy, old-fashioned charm. As you drive up, the trees become more colorful, with golden oaks and red maples lining the roads. The town itself is full of historic buildings, making it feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

In the fall, Julian is famous for apple picking. Visit local orchards like Volcan Valley or Calico Ranch, where you can pick your own apples straight from the tree. There’s also Julian Farm & Orchard, where you can pick pumpkins, take a hayride, and explore a corn maze.
