Cascais History

Breakfast
We woke up early and headed to Panisol Bakery for breakfast. I’ve done some research and let me tell you: if you are looking for a place to have early breakfast in Cascais you are almost out of luck as only couple of places open around 7 am. We had traditional Portuguese pastries for breakfasts which were delicious and headed to explore historic city center.
What to see and do during your short stay in Cascais.
Explore Historic center
Cascais has a charming historic center filled with cobbled streets, colorful buildings, and picturesque squares. We walk around the town center, took tons of pictures and headed to marina.
Walk in Marina
The marina is a great place to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy views of the sea. You can also take a boat tour or rent a boat and explore the coastline if you have time.
Visit Citadel Palace
After marina we went to The Citadel Palace, a historic fortress that was once used to protect the town from invaders. It houses a museum and art gallery and offers stunning views of the coastline.
If you have more time you can also relax on the beach, take a ride along the coast and visit Boca do Inferno.
Cascais beaches
Cascais has several beautiful beaches, including Praia da Rainha and Praia do Guincho. Pack a picnic and spend the day soaking up the sun and enjoying the ocean views.
Praia da Ribeira
Located in the heart of Cascais, this beach is easily accessible and popular for its central location. It’s a great spot for a quick swim or a relaxing day on the sand.
Praia do Guincho
Known for its strong winds and waves, Praia do Guincho is a favorite among surfers and windsurfers. The beach is surrounded by natural beauty, with the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park nearby.
Praia da Rainha

Praia da Conceição
Located next to Praia da Duquesa, Praia da Conceição is a popular family-friendly beach with calm waters and good facilities. It’s ideal for swimming and sunbathing.

Although technically located in the municipality of Cascais, Praia de Carcavelos is one of the largest and most popular beaches in the Lisbon area. It’s great for surfing, volleyball, and other beach activities.
Praia das Avencas
