Tepatitlán history

Tepatitlán has a long and fascinating history. It was originally inhabited by indigenous communities. Then, Spanish colonization arrived in the 16th century, bringing changes to the local culture. Tepatitlán became an important center for agriculture and trade. Throughout the years, the city grew and developed, and today it showcases its history through its architecture and traditional festivals.

How much time to spend in Tepatitlán

The amount of time you should spend in Tepatitlán depends on your personal preferences and the activities you plan to do. However, to fully experience the highlights of the city and its surroundings, it is recommended to spend at least 2-3 days. This will allow you to explore the historic center, visit the local markets, immerse yourself in the cultural attractions, and take in the natural beauty of the area. Additionally, if you wish to venture out and visit nearby attractions or participate in local festivals, you may want to consider extending your stay by a few more days.

We hired a private driver in Guadalajara and spend a day exploring San Juan de Los Lagos and Tepatitlán. Unfortunately, we were able to spend only half day in the city. It was enough to visit museum, couple of churches and explore city center, and couple of parks. So, I strongly recommend to stay overnight and spend first day exploring city center, museums and markets and take a trip to hot springs the second day.
